For a Niche Law Firm in Brussels, LegalUp Talents is looking for a Lawyer with experience in Sanctions Litigation, speaking fluently English.

Our client is a specialist law firm based in Brussels and focusing on EU & international sanctions and related litigation as well as sanctions’ compliance.

Leading in their niche, they help their clients to guard their interests in and beyond the EU.

Their team members have been involved in over 15+ sanctions delisting cases across several sanctions regimes. They successfully led delisting of several listed individuals.

They are at the forefront of sanctions litigation: they are leading pioneering challenges of newly introduced designation criteria and sanctions’ regimes.

Responsibilities

  • Advice on the EU law
  • Assisting clients in their litigation in front of the EU courts / administrative procedures in
    the EU institutions
  • Ideally, legal advice on Belgian administrative law
  • Sanctions legal advice: including writing memoranda relating to sanctions compliance matters
  • Interaction with national competent authorities in the EU & with EU institutions
    (Commission, Council) on various sanctions related matters
  • Monitoring & reporting on international sanctions developments for clients
  • Conducting due diligence and background research

Must Have

  • Master's degree in Law
  • 5-15+ years' experience as Lawyer in EU Law
  • Member of the Bar in Belgium (Main List or List E)  
  • Demonstrable experience in litigation in front of the EU courts
  • English Fluent
  • Good understanding of sanctions required
  • Understanding of the EU decision-making processes
  • Outstanding oral & written communication skills

Nice to have

  • Belgian Master in Law 
  • Experience in international or large law firm
